The 29th edition of Hungary Sakura Cup was concluded with a great success. The event had 170 participants from 28 clubs and 13 countries – Serbia, Slovakia, Italy, Poland, Romania, Austria, Croatia, Great Britain, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Ireland, Ukraine, Japan and Hungary took part in the tournament. After so many years it was for the first time that the under 1st dan adult categories were not organized. The event reached its peak in the number of competitors so that it was decided to focus on the younger generations only. Regardless the changes, Sakura Cup still had high number of participants.
Also, six courts were needed in order to finish the event in time.
H.E. Ms Hikariko Ohno, the Japanese Ambassador, accepted our invitation, who was also a kendo praticioner at an early age.
Lots of thanks to all the referees who took on the responsibility of tournament duties during the event and to the organizers for their tireless work. It is needless to say that without the help of many volanteers such events in a grand scale would be impossible to organize.
